The Original Baby Boy

Unfortunately, I am guilty of blogging out of order, but I did not want to overlook something very important - our baby boy turned 6! What an amazing 6 years it has been. Roland provides us with a constant source of amusement. He is so much like Shane sometimes. You can just see the gears of his mind working as he designs some lego mobile (my personal favorite is the one that is a ride-on vacuum cleaner that he is not only going to make for me, but is also going to use to clean our house) or as he attempts to tell you about something he saw by sketching it out. He also get some traits from his mom, but we aren't going to talk about those.
Roland came home from school right before Christmas and told Shane and I that he kissed Juliette on the hand and on the lips. Apparently, she picked him because he was giving her "fancy looks." This consists of raising and lowering your eye brows. I would like to say something in regards to the trivial nature of relationships between 6 year olds, but hey, that is about all it took for Shane to wrangle me in. I am really scared that this is an early indicator of lots of future girl friends.
Roland continues to grow like a weed, but has finally managed to stay in one shoe size for almost the entire school year. That is remarkable for him as I thought he would have boats for feet if he continued on at the same pace he kept for the first 5 years. A neighbor of mine says that kids grow when they are not eating, and when they are eating they are storing up for a growth spurt. In that case, we have a lot to fear because my kid who has lived on virtually nothing for 3 years or so has decided he is going to eat everything in sight. He is in the habit of saying, "That was sooooo good Momma" with a look of pure enjoyment on his face. Hopefully he can continue eating that way and stay slim like his dad.
So far, Roland has lost two teeth and has four loose, including the two top front ones. He will be lucky if he has enough teeth left to do any eating with!

I am not sure what is going on in this picture, but still liked it.
Due to Roland's birthday falling on a weekday, it was pretty low key with only a celebration at the Japanese steak house (Ro's favorite). They did come and sing some version of the birthday song with a really loud drum.
Happy Birthday Roly Poly! We love you so very much!
