Henry Mack

Maybe he came a little earlier than expected, but we couldn't be happier to announce the arrival of Henry Mack Price born 5-14-11 at 6:28 AM. He weighed 7lbs 15 oz and was 20in long. He is our biggest baby yet, but he looks like a little squirt to me. Maybe I just forget how small they are.
While things have been very busy, we have been having a great time with the baby and all the visiting family.

Waiting for their first view of Henry. We had to leave the boys with the neighbor in the middle of the night, so I am sure they were surprised to wake up with the news of baby brother's arrival. The big guys have been a big help with the baby and are very excited. They continue to tell me how small and soft he is, and that he is crying. Older sibling make great pacifier and bottle holders.

Some handsome guys.
Resting at home.

4-21-11

After a progressive downhill bout with old age, Shane and I had to say goodbye to our first fur baby. Harley was 16 1/2 and was really like a second child. My mom and grandma brought her to Raleigh when she was not even a handful after her mom died. The vet told them then that he doubted she would make it. She spent all of our college years on Shane's books, refusing to move while he tried to study. Each morning she sat on the toilet until Shane got out of the shower and waited for him to brush her. She was truly a daddy's girl. She lived through eating a sewing needle, from which she had to have an experimental surgery that entailed all of her guts being laid out on a table to remove the needle, and survived a dog attack that left her without a tooth, a punctured lung, a broken sternum and 3 broken ribs. I don;t know if she used all nine lives, but she must have had close to that many. She was the only cat in the house that let the boys pet her (most likely because she was deaf in the last few years) and they really miss her, as do we.

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

In an effort to somewhat compensate the boys for bringing a new baby into the home (and also with the mindset that we will probably never have enough money to take 3 kids on vacation), we decided to go to Disney World! Neither Shane nor I had ever been, and it seemed like a good age appropriate trip for the boys. I was more than a little trepidacious about taking a trip at 30 weeks pregnant to a place that is hot and humid and that you have to walk a lot, but I have to say it was really really nice. I was a little sad that I did not get to ride any of the super cool rides, but there was still a lot to do. The boys were real troopers, especially on the way there, pulling their own bags and carrying their backpacks. When we arrived at the hotel, we realized that Roland also helped pack his suitcase because he had two pocket knives in the front of his carry on. Way to go TSA.

Duncan prepping for our trip.
Quietly enjoying our first airplane ride. Both boys spent most of the ride flirting with the early 20 something girl behind us.

Duncan was terrified of this pig that was a the swamp boat ride office, and rightly so, in my opinion. The pig got very angry and started screaming at a couple of different people. Duncan finally got up the nerve to touch him, but it was brief.
Duncan was not so scared of the alligator. Okay, it did have a rubberband on it's mouth, which is what he is looking at, but I thought the picture was pretty funny.
Feeding the turtle while waiting for our boat ride

Parrots in the trees at Sea World.
Not sure which one is the killer whale. However, only one of us has hormonal rages.

Enjoying Cocoa Beach-clothed, of course. Thank goodness for rental cars. It was a little chilly at first, but actually quiet nice overall. The boys have never really cared that much for the ocean, but were loath to leave on this day.
Enjoying the fountain at the space center
Space Shuttle Wardens?
Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!

Space Mountain, minus Roland and Duncan's heads.

Showing some brotherly love on the ferry boat

The Magic Kingdom

Leaving Disney...maybe the magic is just how fast the money in your wallet disappears, but we all had such a great time and were sad to head back to Durham. Fortunately, we already have lots of awesome ideas for things to do next time.
